Bodog Founder Calvin Ayre

The story of Bodog founder Calvin Ayre goes something like this:

Calvin Ayre with Bodog GirlsIn 1961 a boy named Calvin Ayre is born to a Saskatchewan farmer. He learns the value of hard work growing up on the farm and develops a keen taste for competition by playing organized sports throughout his childhood. When he graduates from high school he heads off to college where he obtains a Bachelor of Sciences (BSc) in General Sciences from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo Ontario Canada in 1984 while playing for the varsity hockey team.

Contrary to what they typical college graduate would do, Ayre decides he’s not yet learned enough and pursues a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Finance from City University in Seattle Washington USA. He receives his second degree in 1989 and immediately enrolls for Law School at the University of Western Ontario. After a year of law school, at age 29, he decides its time to start a career and leaves school.

Calvin Ayre’s first career was a managerial role with Bicer Medical Systems Ltd.. A couple years after his employment he had some legal issues with the British Columbia Securities Commission for violations of a Securities Act. He settled this matter with no trial. By this time he was a multi millionaire having earned his income from an honestly ran business.

Wait… How does the son of a Saskatchewan farmer spend an entire decade at a university and end up a multi millionaire in the process? Oh sorry we skipped that part.

In 1994 Calvin Ayre tiered of working for some one else and with keen understandings of competition, hard work and business decided it was time to go all in. Ayre sold every possession he owned and came up with $10,000 to start his own business. The company was named Bodog and had an initial aim to be a software provider. This plan soon evolved and by 1995 Bodog was a full service offshore sportsbook. Their popularity grew in leaps and bounds and eventually they added a number of other entertainment brands including an online casino in 1999.

Calvin Ayre did not stop at becoming a millionair. He continued to build his brand as he progressed to becoming a multi millionaire, a mega millionaire and at one point during Bodog’s height a billionaire. This was all from a $10,000 investment.

Calvin earned these millions all while living an incredible lifestyle. When asked how things changed since his days on the farm Ayre said “a lot!” he went on to explain there has been a lot more hot woman, a couple more houses, luxury trips in and more since those days. The Bodog brand has always been about the Bodog lifestyle which can be best described as “high stakes, high risk, exotic parties, hot woman and not stop action and fun”.

In 2008 Calvin Ayre retired from an active roll at Bodog but the legacy he created is sure to live on. As a matter of fact, Calvin Ayre is extremely active in the gambling culture, so much so, that his own blog, Calvin Ayre is constantly updated with news, opinion and gossip from the world of online gambling.
